
Employee Benefits
New England Hematology Oncology Associates (NEHO) is committed to providing comprehensive benefits to all full time staff. Full time staff are defined as those employees who are scheduled to work a minimum of thirty (32) hours per week. Part time staff who work a minimum of 24 hours are eligible for paid time off benefits on a pro-rated basis.
- Health Insurance: NEHO covers 75% of single premiums and 50% of dependent premiums. Health Insurance coverage is offered through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Health Insurance coverage is available to all eligible staff after 30 days of continuous employment.
- Dental Insurance: NEHO offers a dental insurance plan offered through Delta Dental which is accepted by 96% of dentists in Massachusetts.
- Long-term Disability (LTD): This is an employer paid benefit for full time staff which provides 60% of monthly earnings up to $2000 per month to those who are disabled from work. LTD insurance is designed to pick up where STD leaves off and provide coverage after 90 days of continuous disability. Employee become eligible after working one full calendar month and consistent with enrollment time frames.
- Short-term Disability (STD): This is a voluntary employee paid benefit which provides for income protection in the event you become unable to work for a period of time due to illness of injury.
- Retirement Savings Plan (401K): Employees are eligible to participate in the NEHO 401k plan after 3 calendar months of employment. Enrollment dates are January 1 and July 1 of each year. NEHO matches 2% of employee contributions.
- Profit Sharing: In addition to the 401K NEHO maintains a discretionary profit sharing plan. Historically the practice has contributed approximately 5% of employee salaries into the plan. As required by law, your participation in our plan will be subject to the eligibility requirements of the plan.
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): This benefit allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for qualifying out of pocket medical care and dependent care expenses.
- Accident/Injury Indemnity: This is a voluntary, employee paid benefit which provides income security for treatment of an illness or injury. Benefits are payable for a covered person’s death, dismemberment or bodily injury caused by a covered accident that occurs on or off the job. Spouses and dependents can also be insured under this plan.
- Life Insurance: This is a voluntary, employee paid benefit which allows you to choose from a variety of benefit plans to ensure financial security in the event of death.
- Cancer Protection: This is a voluntary employee paid benefit which acts as a supplement to health insurance. You must have health insurance coverage to elect this benefit. This policy provides benefits to any covered persons for cancer and other diseases or conditions directly caused or aggravated by cancer or cancer treatment.
- Earned Time: All full time staff accrue 20 days of earned time per calendar year and are eligible to request time off after three months of employment. Part time staff who work a minimum of 24 hours per week are eligible for earned time on a pro-rated basis.
- Holiday Time: NEHO recognizes nine paid holidays. Part time staff who work a minimum of 24 hours per week are eligible for holiday pay on a pro-rated basis. All staff are eligible for holiday time after 1 month of employment.

- Shipley Fitness Center: Affordable full service onsite fitness center membership Detailed plan information is available upon request. New employees must make their benefit selections within 30 days of hire. NEHO’s annual open enrollment occurs in May of each year.
