
New England Hematology/Oncology Associates, P.C. has six physicians on staff who are board-certified oncologists and board-certified or board-eligible hematologists.
Our physician staff combines the expertise obtained from training at premier medical centers with the personal approach of a community based practice. By maintaining close contact with national cancer research organizations and with Boston's medical centers, we continue to offer our patients up-to-date diagnostic and treatment options.
During nights and weekends, one of the physicians is on call for urgent medical issues and can be contacted through our answering service at (617) 658-6000 (contact us).
Dr. Timothy P. O’Connor, M.D.
Dr. O'Connor received his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College. He attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and his subsequent fellowship in hematology at St. Vincent's Hospital and his fellowship in medical oncology at the New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. O'Connor previously served as the President of the Medical Staff at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and is one of the co-founders of New England Hematology/Oncology Associates, P.C. He is Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Jeffrey S. Wisch, M.D.
Dr. Wisch, a co-founder of New England Hematology/Oncology Associates, P.C., attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. Dr. Wisch completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His fellowships include hematology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, medical oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and a clinical and research fellowship at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Wisch is interested in all solid tumors and hematological diseases. He has research interests in leukemias, anemia, myelodysplastic diseases and Gaucher's disease.
Caroline C. Block, M.D. 
Dr. Block earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Her post-graduate training includes a fellowship in medical oncology and in leukemia/lymphoma bone marrow transplantation at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and a fellowship in hematology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She was a Kellogg Fellow in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. She is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Block is Director of the Anti-coagulation Clinic at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and is the Director of Medical Oncology at the Auerbach Breast Center also located at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She directs our Oncology Clinical Research program and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Block is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. Her interests include breast cancer, gynecologic cancers, genetic testing and coagulation disorders.
Dr. Revati A., Rao, M.D.
Dr. Rao received her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Roger Williams Medical Center and her fellowship in hematology and oncology at New England Medical Center.
Dr. Rao joined New England Hematology Oncology Associates after two years as an attending physician with Ohio Permanente Medical Group, an affiliate of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Dr. Rao is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology and board eligible in hematology. Dr. Rao's clinical interests include all solid tumors, with a particular interest in breast and thoracic cancers. Dr. Rao is also available for general hematology/oncology consultation.
Dr. Susan Schumer, M.D.
Dr. Schumer came to NEHO after five years on the attending staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Schumer graduated from the Tufts University School of Medicine in 1995. She completed her residency and internship at the New England Medical Center and then joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2000 to complete her fellowship in hematology/oncology.
Dr. Schumer is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology and is board eligible in hematology.
Dr. Schumer has extensive research experience and is widely published. Her clinical interests include breast, thoracic and gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Barbara M. Healey, M.D.
Dr. Healey received her medical degree at the University Of Massachusetts School Of Medicine. She completed her residency at University of Massachusetts School of Medicine and her fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Healey joined New England Hematology after over 20 years in practice at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. Dr. Healey is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. Her clinical interests include all solid tumors, with a particular interest in breast cancer. Dr. Healey is available for general hematology/oncology consultation.
